Significance Of Air Conditioning Service

Air conditioning unit can break down for several reasons. Normally the person living in the house doesn't notice anything immediately until the temperature outside increases. The temperature inside also increases slowly and then most people start noticing that there is something wrong with their air conditioner.

If the unit is running but only if the warm air is blowing, the problem can be fixed by cleaning the unit sometimes. If you are comfortable with the repair, you can do it on your own. If not, then an air conditioning contractor can handle the servicing of the air conditioning unit for you. It is not a difficult job to do.

Look for a disconnect panel near the unit first. It appears like a big circuit breaker. The unit should power down when you throw the switch. If you are not very sure, you turn off the main breaker to the entire house. The best way to do the test is running fan first and make sure it turns off when the switch is thrown.

Clear debris and leaves around the unit and take off the protective grill that is on the condenser fins. You can always call a contractor or technician to do the job for you, but many people think that they can do this on their own. Brush off those fins with a good brush. Vacuum them to eliminate all the collected dirt.

Unscrew and remove the grill that covers the top of the unit if possible. If there is a fan attached, you should make sure to disconnect the wires. From inside of the unit, wash off the fins. Don't get the wires or connections wet while doing this. Reattach all the grills when you are done and wait for it to dry. If the temperature is not high, you may have to wait longer. Activate the circuit, go inside the home and set your thermostat at a low temperature so the units start. Check the unit for normal function once it turns on.
